Pralay Mondal, MD & CEO of CSB Bank, stated that the bank targets a return on assets (ROA) of 1.8 per cent over the next three to four years. This growth, he emphasised, will be fuelled by substantial investments in technology, distribution, and talent.

“By FY27, CSB will transform into a full-blown universal bank, the bank has been growing faster than the system at 21% annually.

Despite being a 104-year-old legacy institution, the bank is undergoing significant transformation to align with modern banking standards,” Pralay Mondal told ETBFSI.

CSB is heavily investing in its core and surround systems, digital platforms, API, and cybersecurity frameworks.

“We are the first in India to deploy Oracle’s OBDX platform, and we’ve shifted our data centers from Bengaluru to Mumbai to enhance resilience,” Mondal revealed.

The banking ecosystem’s capex on technology ranges from 7-10 per cent of its expenses, which for CSB is higher than the industry average.
