Harriet Tubman (born Araminta Ross, c. March 1822 – March 10, 1913) was an African-Americananti-slavery worker, and humanitarian.
She was also a Unionspy and the first black woman to lead an American mission during the American Civil War. She was born into slavery but she escaped. During her life, made 13 missions to rescue approximately 70 slaves, including family and friends.
