Welcome to our website. Yazoo Valley Electric is a rural electric power association serving parts of six counties in Mississippi.

We are dedicated to providing safe, reliable electric power to the members who own the system we build and maintain.

Our History

Yazoo Valley Electric has deep roots in the communities we serve. Our association was founded in 1937.

During that time there were plenty of people who doubted there was any realistic chance of electric cooperatives succeeding.

After all, how were people living way out in the country going to afford electricity? And what were they going to do with it if they got it?

Fortunately, the number of people determined to make it work outnumbered those looking for excuses not to try, and rural Mississippi took a huge step forward as the electric cooperative concept began to become a reality across the state.
